Covid-19: 68 new cases and 44 recoveries reported; patient dies

68 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported by health authorities on Saturday in their daily update.

44 people meanwhile have recovered, while a patient who was positive for Covid-19 has passed away. The authorities said the victim was an 88-year-old man.

The number of active cases now stands at 664.

A total of 36 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, three of whom are receiving treatment in ITU.

3,247 swab tests were administered on Thursday, taking the total so far up to 1,159,266.

Up until Thursday, 790,833 doses of the vaccine had been administered, with 410,650 of those being a first dose.

408,885 people are now fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 35,721 cases of the virus. 34,225 of those have recovered, while 436 have died.
