Nicoletta Orsomando, a historic figure on Italian national TV, died today, aged 92, Italian media report.
Orsomando was a Rai programme announcer, known as the “signorine buonasera”, for many years.
She appeared on the screen for the first time in 1953, at a time when a few thousands had a TV at home and her parents had to go to a shop to see their daughter on TV.
Her last appearance was 40 years later, in 1993.
