35 new Covid-19 cases found as another patient passes away

35 new Covid-19 cases were reported by health authorities, as another patient of the virus passed away between Monday and Tuesday.

Authorities said in their daily update on the pandemic situation in Malta that a 65-year-old man had passed away while Covid-19 positive – taking the total number of deaths so far up to 437.

40 people have recovered from the virus, meaning that the number of active cases currently stands at 681.

A total of 37 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, two of whom are in ITU.

3,440 swab tests were administered on Monday, taking the total so far up to 1,168,387.

Up till Monday, 792,173 doses of the vaccine had been administered by health authorities – with 411,306 of those being a first dose.

409,969 people are fully vaccinated.

Malta has had 35,866 cases of the virus. 34,352 of those have recovered, while 437 have died.
