A man was seriously injured when the e-scooter he was riding was involved in an accident in Naxxar on Friday morning.

The accident took place in Labour Avenue at 6.40am.

The police said the rider, a 56-year-old Bulgarian man resident in Mosta, was involved in a crash with an Opel Corsa driven by a 65-year-old man of Naxxar.

The rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Magistrate Monica Vella is leading an inquiry.
