PN youth wing presents €200,000 ‘cheque’ signed by Yorgen Fenech to PL HQ

A giant cheque of €200,000 signed by Yorgen Fenech was left outside the Labour headquarters today by Team Start, the PN’s youngest branch.

The stunt was intended to highlight a story published last Sunday by Times of Malta which found that a company linked to the Labour Party would, under a draft agreement, receive €200,000 over 33 months from Fenech.

This government did not only fail to prevent corruption but it actively facilitated it and the Labour Party was complicit in a whole system of organised crime, the youths said.

The Nationalist Party on Tuesday called on the police to investigate Fenech’s alleged financing of the Labour Party in breach of regulations - something which the PL said was "playing dirty" with the authorities in order to undermine the party.

The Labour Party denied that it is receiving money from Yorgen Fenech, and the report which exposed the draft agreement could not confirm whether it was ever signed - although two invoices between the company in question and Fenech were found.

In a short reaction, the Labour Party's youth wing said it would have been better had Team Start explained why Bernard Grech had "offered a pardon" to Yorgen Fenech in the Daphne Caruana Galizia (something which Grech, as Opposition leader has no power to do) rather than "persisting in their lies."
