Dennis Vella Baldacchino has been nominated as the new commissioner for mental health.

He replaces John Cachia who has held this position since 2012.

Vella Baldacchino will take over on 1 October and be officially in place on 1 December.

He already holds the post of chief medical officer in the Health Ministry.
