Malta’s permanent representative at the United Nations on Tuesday stirred disdain after posting a photo showing that she was watching a football game on her mobile phone while attending a UN meeting.

The post (screenshot below) was later removed.

Posting on Instagram, Vanessa Frazier indicated she was watching the Champions League game between her favourite team Juventus and Swedish side Malmo last Tuesday while she was performing her duties of representing Malta.

The photo shows her mobile phone with the game going on as a meeting was taking place in the main hall in the United Nations building in New York. She is sitting behind the “Malta” nameplate.

The photo is accompanied by a note saying that she is able to multi-task and hashtags showing her support to Juventus, one of them saying that she never misses a game.

Asked whether Frazier had been ordered to remove the post, the Foreign Affairs Ministry replied: “Ms Frazier, a hard working Ambassador, realised this was a mistake from her part and deleted the post, whilst apologising for this mishap.”
