At 2.30pm, the police were informed that its assistance was required at the Blue Lagoon in Comino.
A 28-year-old Nigerian man was in difficulty while swimming. He was taken to the Mgarr port and then on to the Gozo General Hospital. The man was seriously injured.
Investigations are ongoing.
