A worker was critically injured after marble slabs fell on him, the police said.

The accident took place in a factory at the Hal Far industrial estate on Monday at 2.30pm.

The worker, a 21-year-old Eritrean who lives in Birzebbuga, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Magistrate Monica Vella is leading an inquiry.
