World-famous opera star and conductor José Cura returns to Malta at Teatru Astra in Gozo, for the Closing Concert of Mastering the Voice.

The event will be the climax of a week-long series of insightful masterclasses with international participants. During the sessions and rehearsals with Cura between the 25th and 29th October, the participants delve into various operatic skills, including performing with an esteemed, professional orchestra.

This will all come together on the 30th October in Victoria Gozo's stunning Teatru Astra, marking the theatre's re-opening following extensive refurbishment works. The MPO under José Cura's direction will perform with the artists hailing from numerous countries including Hungary, Latvia, China, Denmark and Malta in a programme of enchanting French and Italian operatic repertoire.

Cura himself is acclaimed for his unconventional and innovative concert performances in some of the most prestigious theatres. This summer, he also led the MPO in Grand Finale, a star-studded audio-visual online production featuring world-acclaimed soprano Diana Damrau which reached over 1m people online. The rapport established between himself and the orchestra will be another element for live audiences to enjoy during the Closing Concert.

Mastering the Voice Closing Concert is presented in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority and with the support of Marriott Malta Hotel & Spa. The event will adhere to current health protocols. Entrance is free but reservation is required via [email protected].
