Malta to draft new strategy for its relations with the Gulf - minister

Minister  Evarist  Bartolo said today that the Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs was in the process of drafting a new strategy for the Gulf, which is a reflection of Malta’s commitment to further its ties and cooperation in the region.

Minister Evarist Bartolo held  discussions with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, H.E. Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, who was on an official visit to Malta.

In recalling the excellent and longstanding relations between Malta and the Gulf Cooperation Council, both sides agreed to develop an action plan with a view to enhancing cooperation in numerous sectors such as trade, investment, food security, education, health and agriculture.  .

Minister Bartolo welcomed the visit by the Secretary-General, noting that this was a ‘meeting among friends’ and emphasised how the security of the Mediterranean and the Gulf were closely interlinked.
