A refusal by an MP to give an account of his or her actions, especially if they served as a minister, is “incorrect” and “unworthy”, former Labour leader Alfred Sant writes.
In a clear reference to the behaviour of MP Konrad Mizzi, Sant says that all MPs have a duty to account to the people of their actions.
In his bi-weekly blog on The Malta Independent, Sant says it is “incorrect and unworthy behaviour” for an MP to “try and slide away from this duty”.
Mizzi has refused to appear before the Public Accounts Committee to reply to questions on the Electrogas contract for four times.
He has said that he will make himself available after 3 November.
