Giovanni Bonello: Bejn Storja u Miti

Thursday, 4 November 2021, 10:06 Last update: about 3 years ago

What was the divergence of views between Dr Giovanni Bonello and Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami about? Is it true that it was PL Leader Dr Alfred Sant who intervened? How did Giovanni Bonello attain a "near-legendary" status in international justice fora? How can one explain his insatiable thirst for historical studies? What role has Saint Ives played in the life of Justice Emeritus Bonello?

Answers to all of these questions and much more in L-Imħallef Giovanni Bonello Bejn Storja u Miti, yet another publication from Horizons. The volume, edited by Sergio Grech, writer and researcher, is a biography of former European Court of Human Rights Judge Dr Giovanni Bonello through the perspectives of sixteen different contributors.

For the very first time, readers can also get a glimpse into Giovanni Bonello's interest in a particular kind of photography.

Giovanni Bonello's indefatigable fight for human rights pervades the whole book. The sixteen contributors also analyse Giovanni Bonello's legal writings as well as his historical studies, and they all concur that Giovanni Bonello is a real patriot.

Those who contributed to this book are: Professor George Cassar, Dr Enrico Scicluna, Dr Paul Xuereb, Francesca Balzan, Notary Mark Anthony Sammut, Mr Justice Toni Abela, Caroline Tonna, Dr Joan Abela, Ms Justice Lorraine Schembri Orland, Professor Vicky Ann Cremona, Professor Kevin Aquilina, Dr Tonio Borg, Daniel Cilia, Dr Simon Mercieca, Dr Austin Bencini and Maroma Camilleri.

The book will be available from the Malta Book Fair, at Ta' Qali.

In the coming days, it will be available too in leading bookshops in Malta and Gozo. For further information phone 21441604 or email [email protected].
