40 new Covid-19 cases reported as surge in numbers continues

Health authorities have reported 40 new cases of Covid-19 as the spike in cases of the virus continues to persist.

13 have recovered, taking the number of active cases up to 298.

It is the highest number of cases reported since 14 September, when 50 new cases were reported by authorities.

Hospital numbers however have remained stable, with 9 patients currently receiving treatment at Mater Dei Hospital.  Three of those – one less than Thursday – are in intensive care.

885,683 doses of the vaccine have been administered by health authorities so far, with 56,585 of those being booster doses.

Malta has had 37,817 cases.  36,648 of those have recovered, while 462 have died.
