A 23-year-old woman suffered grievous injuries after she fell off a cliff-edge while walking in Ghajn Tuffieha, police said.

In a statement, the police said that their assistance had been requested at around 5pm on Sunday in the area known as tal-Qarraba, in the limits of Ghajn Tuffieha.

Preliminary investigations showed that a 23-year-old woman from Pembroke had fallen some height from off a cliff while she was walking.

The Civil Protection Department coordinated the operation for the woman to be rescued, and she was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

There she was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

District police investigations are ongoing.
