A code on demolition, excavation and construction will be issued for public consultation in the coming weeks, the minister resonsible for planning, Aaron Farrugia, told Parliament on Monday.
He was answering a parliamentary question by Labour MP Oliver Scicluna, who asked what was being done by the Building and Construction Agency to decrease the impact of construction on neighbouring households.
Farrugia said the agency was taking all possible steps to reduce inconvenience, including through recent legislation on the protection of third party property.
The minister said the BCA has also stepped up enforcement and will be employing more enforcement officers. Farrugia said more work needs to be done but the government is committed to see the BCA strengthened, leading to a more organised construction sector.
