As a consequence of the fire, the Portomaso tower was evacuated. Specialised equipment from the civil protection Department was brought on site in order to help fight the fire.

Emergency doctors were on site aiding people suffering from smoke inhalation.

In an update on Friday evening, the CPD said the fire had been brought under control and its officers were venting the offices which caught fire.

“Since the offices were very close to the Portomaso Tower, our High Rise Building mechanism was triggered and adhered to,” it said.
