A man was arrested by the police in connection with two hold-ups in St Julian’s and Qormi earlier this week, the police said.

In a statement, the police said it received information that a man had broken into a parked car and made off with items from it.

Police officers arrested the man, aged 38.

Investigations later led the police to link the arrested man with two hold-ups that had taken place on Wednesday and Thursday, in St Julian’s and Qormi.

A hooded man armed with a knife had entered the shop in St Julian’s at 11pm on Wednesday and demanded money from the cashier, a 31-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay.

A day later, another hold-up took place in Qormi at 7.15pm. The police said a man armed with a knife had entered a shop in Triq it-Tin and made off with cash after threatening the cashier.
