An 84-year-old man is in danger of dying after he lost control of his car and crashed in a traffic accident in Gozo on Monday morning.

Police said that they were informed of the incident at around 10:15am, in Triq Tas-Srug in Xaghra, Gozo.

Preliminary investigations showed that the elderly man, a Xaghra resident, was driving his Daihatsu Sirion when he lost control, hit a ledge, and subsequently rolled the car as a result.

The man was given medical assistance and rushed to the Gozo General Hospital for the necessary treatment.

He was certified as suffered serious injuries.

Duty magistrate Bridgette Sultana is leading a magisterial inquiry while police investigations are ongoing.
