A cyclist from Gambia was grievously injured after he was hit by a car on the Marsa-Hamrun by-pass on Sunday evening, the police said.

The cyclist, a man from Gambia, aged 32 and resident in Swieqi, was hit by a Mazda Demio driven by a 21-year-old man of Zabbar at around 7pm.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.
