San Gwann residents are complaining about loud Christmas carols being played from loudspeakers in the streets of the locality, which they say is causing an inconvenience.

Residents writing in the San Gwann Residents group on Facebook have said that the local council has been approached about the matter but the disturbance continues.

One resident wrote that the loud noise is preventing her from studying.

“The sound is so loud in my all my apartment, I cannot study, I cannot sleep, I cannot watch my online lectures, I cannot rest. I am devastated and hopeless, my exams are soon and I cannot concentrate, and I cannot sleep, I literally cannot do anything. I spoke with the local council and they didn’t do anything! I spoke with the Mayor and after begging him he promised he is going to lower the volume! But he did not do anything!”

Another said that “complaints to the police have only resulted that they will tell the council to lower the sound, which did not happen.

The writer said he is house bound and “has to endure 12 hours non stop every day of this useless music.”

“I get home after a long day at work and instead of peace and silence I have those xmas songs playing over and over. I can't concentrate. I'm craving silence in my own home and I don't get it. Lower the music. Please!!! It's driving me crazy! It's disturbing!”, another resident said.
