Justyne Caruana should request publication of Standards Commissioner's report – PN

Saturday, 11 December 2021, 13:05 Last update: about 3 years ago

The Nationalist Party on Saturday called on Education Minister Justyne Caruana to immediately request the publication of the Standards Commissioner’s report into her alleged breach of ethics.

The sooner the report is published and action is taken against Caruana, the sooner the education sector can move on, the party said in a statement.

Robert Abela has already chosen two Education Ministers who were unfit for purpose. The PN urged Abela to take the education sector more seriously and find a suitable replacement immediately.

Malta needs an education minister who prioritizes better pay for teachers, not €5,000-a-month jobs for their boyfriends.

This scandal has proven Caruana unfit for public life, so if Abela really believes in raising standards, he should immediately remove her from his parliamentary group.

By his own low standards - as in the case of Rosianne Cutajar - Abela should at the very least remove Caruana’s portfolio.

On Friday, the Standards Commissioner ruled that Caruana breached ethics when her ministry gave a €15,000 contract to former footballer Daniel Bogdanovic.
