An Italian man was arrested by the police in connection with an investigation into drug trafficking, the police said.

The man, aged 29 and resident in St Paul’s Bay, was arrested after the police seized cocaine and cannabis to be trafficked.

Police officers surrounded the man’s residence on Wednesday and during a search on the property, which included a garage, they lifted 1.5 kilos of cocaine and 15 kilos of cannabis.

The street value of the drug is around €450,000, the police said.

Officers also lifted €250,000 in cash.
