The number of Covid-19 cases registered today has again shot up, reaching 291, and taking the tally of active cases to nearly 1,800, figures released by the health authorities said.
It is the fifth highest day of daily cases, superseding the 263 we had on 28 February, until today the fifth highest day in terms of recorded cases.
The highest single day tally was 10 March with 510.
There were 100 recoveries, which means that the number of active cases is now 1,791. The last time we had more cases was on 31 July, when there were 1,847.
Twenty-two people remain in hospital, with three of them in intensive care.
The number of deaths remains at 471.
The government said that 1,007,250 vaccination doses have been administered, of which 167,322 are booster doses.
Malta has had 41,479 cases of the virus so far. 38,898 of those have recovered.
