282 new cases of Covid-19 were registered on Sunday, as the number of active cases continues to rise sharply.
55 people recovered from the virus, meaning that Malta now has 2018 active cases. The last time the country had over 2,000 active cases was 29 July (2,060).
Currently, 30 patients are being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, four of whom are in the ITU.
Malta has had 41,761 cases of the virus since the pandemic first reached the islands. 38,953 of those have recovered. In total, 471 people have died.
1,009,968 vaccine doses have been administered so far, of which 169,800 are booster doses.
