A man was grievously injured on Sunday evening after his car overturned in Gozo.

The accident took place in Triq il-Belliegħa, Victoria, at around 9:15pm, the police said.

The man, 48, from Xewkija, lost control of his Hyundai Accent, with the car ending up in iots roof. A parked Nissan Qashqai was also damaged in the accident.

The casualty was aided by a medical team on site and was later taken to the Gozo General Hospital. Members of the Civil Protection Department also assisted in the operation.

The police are investigating.
