Kunsill Studenti Universitarji is putting pressure on the University administration to shift the January examination session online, taking into consideration the requirements for each unit.

In a statement on their Facebook page, KSU urged the University of Malta to reconsider on the upcoming examination session to shift online rather than students having to sit for their exams physically.

The current situation entails that if a student is put under mandatory quarantine due to Covid-19, the individual must then have to sit for the exam in the September session.

With a large number of students being subjected to quarantine, having students sit for an exam as a first sit in September is not logistically possible, as also confirmed by the Office of the Registrar, the student organisation said.

As the current situation mandates, those who end up sitting for the September sessions and fail, will not be permitted for a second chance in the exam. Moreover, KSU highlighted that the situation of the pandemic in September is still unknown, and it would pose an unfairness on the students who are then left without an opportunity for the second sitting.

KSU is requesting that action is taken immediately regarding this issue.
