A man was found dead in St James ditch in Valletta, the police said.

The police were alerted to the case on Monday at around 6:15pm.

Preliminary investigations showed that the man, 30, from, Birkirkara, fell from Hastings Garden.

A medical team was called to the scene but the man was pronounced dead on site.

Magistrate Elaine Mercieca is leading an inquiry. Police investigations are also ongoing.
