Hugo Maradona, the brother of the legendary Diego Armando Maradona, has died at the age of 52, according to reports.
The news was announced by well-known Mediaset journalist and commentator Raffaele Auriemma on the radio on Tuesday.
A former Argentine youth international, Hugo Maradona played with Ascoli, in the Italian Serie A, Rayo Vallecano in the Spanis La Liga, and Austria’s Rapid Vienna before rejoining Argentinos Juniors in his homeland.
He was in Malta earlier this month hosting a training camp in tandem with Qormi FC for age groups ranging from U9 to U15.
It is understood that he was found dead at his home in Naples, Italy, having died from a heart attack.
His brother, Diego, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to touch a football. He passed away in November 2020.
