Malta has over 10,000 active cases of Covid-19 as daily record is again broken

The number of active Covid-19 cases in Malta has jumped over the 10,000 mark, with the country now having 10,137 Covid positive people.

The number of new cases registered on Thursday reached a new daily record - 1,353. This is higher than the previous record of 1,337 on Wednesday.

172 people recovered. 8,190 Covid tests were carried out yesterday, the highest ever.

The number of people at Mater Dei Hospital with Covid has also risen to 94, six of whom are in the ITU.

Malta has had 50,978 cases of the virus so far. 40,046 of those have recovered. 476 people have passed away with Covid since the start of the pandemic.

In total, 1,060,424 Covid vaccines have been administered, 213,816 of which were booster shots.
