Four people have died while positive for Covid-19, the health authorities said in their daily update.

Three of the four victims were men - aged 77, 87 and 88. The fourth victim was an 86-year-old woman. In total, 496 people have died since the start of the pandemic.

The number of new cases registered stood at 673, while 1,179 people recovered from the virus. This means that the number of active cases in the country stands at 13,104.

116 people with Covid-19 are being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, nine of whom are in the ITU.

Malta has had 61,866 cases of the virus so far. 47,917 of those have recovered.

1,146,466 doses of the Covid vaccines have been administered thus far, 288,561 of which are booster shots.
