A young man was critically injured on Saturday afternoon in a four0car crash on Hal Far Road, Birzebbuga, the police said.

The four cars involved were a Mercedes Benz truck driven by a 43-year-old man of Birzebbuga, an Opel Astra driven by a 21-year-old man of Mosta, a Peugeot 208 driven by a 26-year-old woman of Qrendi and a Toyota Corolla driven by a 25-year-old man of Mellieha.

The 21-year-old man suffered serious injuries, while the woman was also taken to hospital suffering from slight injuries.

Magistrate Gabriella Vella is leading an inquiry.

The accident happened at 3.45pm, the police said.
