Works on the indoor pool of 'international standards' in Cospicua have entered into the final phase, a government statement read.

Excavation has concluded and now the pool and spectator stands are being built. The project cost €14 million.

All the projects within the Sports sector compliment the National Strategy for Sport, Minister Clifton Grima said, adding that this particular project was also an electoral promise.

Excavation took five months. This final phase also includes the completion of the office building, dressing rooms, showers and food facilities. It will also be equipped with the best technology, the statement added.

The pool is 5,000sqm and 2.2m deep. The size satisfies the requirements of the International Swimming Federation, the government statement read.
