The weather may be a bit chilly, but it is significantly better than the weather front which battered Malta today 24 years ago.
A heavy storm dropped over 100mm of rain and hail in most parts of Malta on 25 January 1998, leading to some roads being turned into a scene more akin of a Christmas card than Maltese villages.
Roads such as Birkirkara valley turned into rivers, leaving many people stranded outside in their cars.
The weather was so cold that in some areas, the ice which had accumulated from the hail took five whole days to melt.
The below video was aired by state broadcaster TVM showing scenes from across the island.
