Covid-19: Two more deaths, slight drop in number of active cases

Two more patients have died with Covid-19 as the number of active cases dipped slightly, figures released by the health authorities show.

The latest victims are two men aged 86 and 88. Their deaths take the tally to 538.

There were 314 new cases recorded, with 490 people who recovered.

The number of active cases is now 4,309.

The number of people in hospital went up again, from 90 on Tuesday to 101 on Wednesday. Six of them are in intensive care.

The health authorities said that 1,201,389 vaccination doses have been administered, of which 325,224 are booster doses.

Malta has registered 66,646 cases of the virus. 61,416 of those have recovered.
