The gloves are off

If there is anything that Labour, PL, in all its administrations and projections cannot endure it is being told what to do by the Opposition, PN, or, whomever in the mind of the PL anarchists, they see as a defender of rule of law and ethics.

The present grudge goes back to the Rosianne Cutajar case where she was found to be in breach of parliamentary standards by the Commissioner for Standards.  This case touched on the macular workings of the hierarchy entrenched in the Labour party and organization that is currently under the trust of PM Robert Abela.

All was well.  A little tinkering here and a little tinkering there and the ship was maintaining course towards another win at the next election.  Protections were kept in place so that the mechanism could survive even the Daphne Caruana Galizia inquiry and the Board of inquiry’s report.  The report holds The State responsible for her murder and concluded with a 437 report with recommendations on what should follow and be done to correct the failure and ensure that it does not happen again.

But no.  Nobody, whether the Chief Justice and the esteemed members of the Board of Inquiry were going to dictate to Joseph Muscat’s organization what they should accept or do and listen to.  The two concepts, one of accepting the report and implementing the recommendations and the other on upholding the organization are incompatible for Robert Abela.  His master is another.  Certainly not The State and its competencies or the civil society, opposition PN and the media are ever going to move the Labour party into obeying their intentions.

That was the benchmark.  Along the way comes Alice in Wonderland, fully confident that her place next to Yorgen Fenech was as much of an assurance as she could ever need and if there was any doubt, there was the handbag to prove it.  Well conversed in Labour speak and do, Ms Cutajar went about her business until it became everyone else’s business and she was actually told that it was not compatible with the standards expected of an MP.

What followed was the fake reprimand from the Speaker and the nod from above that no matter what Hyzler, the PN and especially Matthew Caruana Galizia had to say, she remained protected.

But the interference in the organization was felt and taken as an offence coming both from the report of the Board of Inquiry and from the Commissioner for Standards.  The level of irritation, pique and “hdura” (a kind of consuming spite), rose to a level of activation wherein the response in the case of Cutajar resulted in her being appointed president of the parliamentary health committee.

The gloves are off.  Devaluation of all state institutions and persons is in force and front of them all will be Matthew Caruana Galizia who had the mind to write to the Speaker of the House to call out his failure to properly reprimand MP Cutajar.

Fury, rage and horror.  Someone, a citizen, a son of a murdered journalist who was a force of principle and truth against a lying Mafia, dared to question the intentions of the PL organization.

Adding fire to the flame came the motion of the anti-corruption bills put forward by the leader of the PN opposition, Dr Bernard Grech and the whole PL turned into the incandescent, incensed storm culminating in the undignified, orchestrated outburst in parliament by PL Whip Glenn Bedingfield and the silence of Robert Abela.

Keith Schembri told the court that he would never do anything on his own initiative, without having the approval of his boss, Joseph Muscat, at that time Prime Minister.  Since the PL is a hierarchy of stooges, it is reasonable to assume that Bedingfield had just paid a visit to his friend Joseph Muscat and had a file prepared for him too.  The script for the outburst was part of an aggression aimed at devaluing and diverting any negative fallout on Muscat.

Abela is left as the main stooge and finally wakes up from his hibernation and yawns and stretches.  It is plain to see that the PL still have a major hangover from the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia and have no way to get over it other than spite, aggression and failure to act on the report, now months since its publication.

Nothing more than a figure head, Abela is not even in control of when the election will take place.  Who is he to keep the country hostage to the PL incumbency and sense of ownership?  People have jobs to do in Parliament and out of it.  There is a democratic process which is expected to be respected and a Prime Minister is either up to defending it and protecting citizens from undue stress and speculation or he should make way and make clear that the party is not fit for purpose but the puppet of one Joseph Muscat.  Let those who think that the magistrate was wrong to order a search in Muscat’s home, at 7.00 a.m. understand that their ignorance is the badge of the PL.

The whole organization is nothing but a carnival.  King Carnival, Muscat, saying that he may be driving his float once again down Republic Street with his head bobbing from side to side.  Something, in his mind, for the country to look forward to and for Abela to be warned.

Know your limits Muscat or you are going to find that you have outsmarted yourself and it will backfire.  Know that no matter how vacant and manipulated Abela may seem to be, there may actually be a rebel rising in him.  Push too far and all your cockiness and victim statements will be wiped off your face.  Your rottweiler may have had his time in parliament to bark and growl but whether you stand for it or not, the institutions are part of our democratic system and though they may be down, they are not beaten because there is actually the power of the people and of the law to uphold them.

So, play silly, childish and fictional games with appointments, persons of trust, direct orders, bullies and contracts that cost us our daily bread and instead of banging on trucks, make fanatical speeches in parliament and discredit any integrity then wait for the ‘Prosit’ of the lapdogs.

Meantime, forget the ministry of administering the country.  Energy costs, food prices, deficit, debt, Air Malta redundancies and blank schedules, corruption levels driving down investment and aid and choose to ignore the recommendations of the Board of Inquiry, for the sake of your rigid antagonism to anything PN or coming from the judiciary and civil society whilst having an amnesia on the election of Roberta Metsola to President of the EU parliament.

Victims of your own making.  Pathetic imitations which no fancy brand of clothing or money can compensate for.  No videos of having your peace disturbed whilst the toast was burning and the coffee left to get cold.  Wake up and smell the coffee came back to you Muscat.
