Foemer Malta and San Giljan ASC goalkeeper Sandro Cosby has passed away, his club said on its Facebook page.

He was 61.

Cosby was instrumental in a string of successes the club achieved between 1992 and 1995, with three championships among the trophies lifted.

He played several times for the national team.

Cosby, a policeman by profession, will be remembered as one of the best waterpolo goalkeepers Malta produced.

Cosby’s former club, San Ġiljan ASC led the tributes to their former goalkeeper.

“San Giljan ASC mourns the loss of former San Giljan and Malta National Goalkeeper, Sandro Cosby,” San Ġiljan ASC said in a statement.
