Covid-19: 74 people die in January, fourth worst month

Seventy-four people died with Covid-19 during January, making it the fourth worst month in terms of fatalities since the pandemic started in March 2020.

The worst month for deaths from Covid-19 remains November 2020, when 79 people died, followed by two months in which 78 people died – December 2020 and March 2021.

The next worst month is January 2021, when 49 people died, while 48 persons died in February 2021.

January this year also registered the worst week and worst day in terms of deaths.

Twenty-six people died between 16 and 22 January, which eclipsed the 23 who died between 8 and 14 November 2020, and the 21 who died between 22 and 28 November 2020, 13 and 19 December 2020 and 14 and 20 March 2021.

We then had seven deaths registered on 23 January, while six died on 20 January.
