Five Covid-19 patients die as 227 cases are reported

Five Covid-19 patients have died, as the death toll in Malta shows no sign of ceasing, health authorities said in their latest update on the pandemic situation.

Authorities said that five men aged 78, 79, 80, 83, and 86 respectively had died while positive for the virus, therefore taking Malta’s death toll up to 556.

227 new cases of the virus were reported meanwhile, with 353 people being reported as recovered.

This means that Malta currently has 2,823 active cases of the virus.

94 patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, with five of those being in intensive care.

1,215,228 doses of the vaccine have been administered thus far, with 331,824 of those being booster doses.

Malta has had 68,131 cases of the virus. 64,336 of those have recovered, while 556 have died.
