Prime Minister inaugurates €8 million 3-star hotel in Mellieħa

Prime Minister Robert Abela has inaugurated a three-star hotel in Mellieħa with an investment of €8 million.

The hotel, named Viu 57 Hotel, consists of 57 rooms and overlooks Għadira bay. During the visit, Abela explained how the government will continue to incentivise economic activity with several initiatives, mentioning yesterday’s €70 million cash injection in the form of the cash cheques and tax refunds.

Despite challenges brought about by the pandemic, the hotel managed to keep all 15 employees, who were thanked by the Prime Minister for the work they do in the hospitality sector.

Hotel operator Mark Camilleri said that despite the effects of the pandemic, the investment remained strong and resilient. He added that as from March, the numbers of tourists visiting looks promising and that they should have a positive upcoming season.

Viu 57 Hotel is equipped with a new restaurant, an infinity pool and other high-level services. All its rooms offer views of valleys or the popular Mellieħa bay.

Present at the inauguration was Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo as well as all hotel staff under the name of the company Develeco Malta Ltd.
