103-year-old and 39-year-old amongst Covid-19 victims, as Malta goes over 70,000 total case mark

Three people have died while positive for Covid-19, as 72 new cases of the virus were reported by health authorities on Monday.

Authorities said that a 39-year-old man – one of the youngest victims of the pandemic so far, a 92-year-old man, and a 103-year-old man – the oldest victim of the pandemic, had passed away while positive for Covid-19.

It means that 592 people have now died while positive for Covid-19 in Malta.

121 people meanwhile have recovered, taking the number of active cases down to 1,628.

54 patients are currently receiving treatment at Mater Dei Hospital, with three of those in intensive care.

1,231,182 doses of the vaccine have now been administered, with 337,974 of those being booster doses.

Malta has had 70,027 cases of the virus so far. 67,371 of those have recovered, while 592 have died.
