Nationalist MP Joe Ellis is abusing of his parliamentary privilege and his position in the highest institution for the benefit of his companies, revealed as such through the parliamentary questions he has been making in Parliament, Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri said today.

“Ellis has been asking PQs for his own interests on projects being carried out in Gozo, such as the infrastructural project in Triq l-Imgarr and Triq Sant Antnin within the limits of Ghajnsielem and Nadur, for which one of Ellis’ companies has been secretly providing material for construction purposes,” Camilleri said.

It has also been revealed that employees of the same company run by Ellis are long overdue for their salaries, he said.

Camilleri accused Ellis of doing this to make up for the debt Ellis has with Gozitan contractors.

PL MP Andy Ellul explained the inconsistency and lack of credibility of Opposition Leader Bernard Grech. Once again, Grech had to give in to pressure after Joe Ellis made it clear that he would not resign, Ellul said.

"Grech does not have the moral authority to decide as he is anchored in the past,” said Ellul, adding that Grech could not have made the decisions Prime Minister Robert Abela made during the pandemic.

“The country cannot afford unreliable and untenable leadership. The future of this country will continue to be assured by a government led by Abela who has taken the biggest decisions on governance, the pandemic and the economy to be in a position to continue to build the Malta we want for our children,” he said.
