PN leader Bernard Grech has appealed to Prime Minister Robert Abela for the country to stop accepting all applications for citizenship from Russian individuals.

Grech expressed solidarity with Ukraine and Ukrainian citizens.

Speaking in an interview with NET news, Grech said that "a Labour government has built Malta's economy by selling citizenship. They do not have a vision and they do not know how to create more wealth," he said. He remarked that the PN, with its proposal to attract 10 new economic sectors, will create more wealth without the need for 'dirty money.'

He condemned Abela for hiding the names of those who have made use of the 'golden passport' scheme, accusing him of failing to conduct serious due diligence on these individuals.

"The reality is that Abela tarnished the country's reputation, and he has yet to give us a guarantee that he will remove Malta from the FATF greylist. So how can we trust him not to put our country's security in danger during these times?" Grech asked.

Grech said that whilst the PN has already come out with its electoral program, the PL has so far only expressed negativity in the campaign, pointing out past PN mistakes. He said that the PN is ready to govern the country, for the good of all. Grech condemned Abela for wasting money on 250 billboards.

The PN's electoral program is focused on measures which are in line with ESG - environmental impact, social obligations and good governance. Grech said that with these three principles, the quality of life can improve without the need to compromise sustainability on all fronts.
