Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelenskyy gave a heartfelt speech in the European Parliament calling for Ukraine to form part of the Union, claiming that "an integral Europe cannot leave Ukraine out."

Starting off, Zelenskyy gave a brief roundup of the previous five days of Russia's full scale invasion. "Our citizens are paying the ultimate price for democracy. This is our new reality and the fact that Europe is talking about Russia's atrocities in Ukraine is heartwarming."

Zelenskyy also said that the only reason he is speaking to the European Parliament is because "there is currently a break in the missile attacks in the area."

Recounting harrowing stories of citizens killed, Zelenskyy became emotional when saying that on Monday, 16 children were killed by Putin's forces throughout Ukraine. "What is the reason for killing children? What threat do they pose to Putin? Do they drive tanks?"

Zelenskyy also told the plenary that "the city with the most universities in Ukraine (Kharkiv) has been bombed to devastation. Our youths are suffering, but they are determined to fight for freedom and democracy."

"We are fighting for our freedom and land, despite the fact that large parts of our country are being bombed, believe me our freedom will not be blocked."

In a final fiery statement Zalenskyy said that "Ukraine has a desire to see our children grow up and prosper, this is our motivation. Without the EU, Ukraine would be nothing and I believe that our determination will add to the European Union and its values. Prove that you are with us and let life win over death."
