77-year-old dies while Covid-19 positive as 94 new cases are reported

A 77-year-old man has died while positive for Covid-19, health authorities said on Wednesday.

It means that 606 people have now died while positive for the virus in Malta.

94 new cases of the virus were meanwhile reported along with 70 recoveries, meaning that the number of active cases has increased slightly to 737.

43 patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, with three of those receiving treatment in intensive care.

1,243,528 doses of the vaccine have been administered thus far, with 343,449 of those being booster doses.

Malta has had 71,388 cases of the virus. 69,634 of those have recovered, while 606 have died.
