The number of Covid-19 active cases has risen sharply again on Saturday, as one more death was recorded.

The latest victim is a 64-year-old woman. The tally is now 608.

Health authorities said that 121 new cases were registered, while 75 people recovered. This pushes up the number of active cases to 845.

The number of people in hospital with Covid-19 has also gone up, to 41, with three in intensive care.

In all, 1,245,089 vaccination doses have been administered, of which 344,315 are booster doses.

Malta has had 71,733 cases of the virus so far.  69,869 of those have recovered.
