Sunday, 6 March 2022, 10:25 Last update: about 3 years ago

Two tracts of land have been transferred to Puttinu Cares and Richmond Foundation respectively so that two projects can be built and carried out, following the signing of an agreement presided over by Prime Minister Robert Abela.

The land transfer will allow Richmond Foundation to have a building where it can offer mental health community service for youths aged between 14 and 24, while for Puttinu Cares, this land means a project through which more holisitic service can be offered to patients who need the NGO before, during, and even after their treatment.

Prime Minister Robert Abela said that the prestige of such an agreement goes beyond its signing, but translates into another investment in people’s quality of life.

“In challenging moments we want every family to have an environment where they can sustain each other.  In the Malta we want, in times of need, families should find a government with resources which can sustain organisations like Puttinu Cares and Richmond Foundation to keep doing good for the country,” Abela said.

Both of these organisations provide their services for free to whoever needs them, which is why they depend on government aid and fundraising to provide those services.

That’s why, the government said, the Lands Authority had identified two sites which can accommodate these two organisations in their mission.

The signing was also presided over by Economy Minister Silvio Schembri.

Puttinu Cares President Angele Cuschieri said that she was happy that in the year that Puttinu will be 20 years old, it will finally have its own premises.

Richmond Foundation CEO Stephania Dimech Sant meanwhile said that the land will allow Richmond to invest in the future so that it can continue to provided services for the mental health needs of the country’s society.
