Electoral Commission announces details for voting for residents of homes for the elderly

The Electoral Commission has announced details for those voting at a number of homes for the elderly and at hospitals across the country in the upcoming general election. 

The notice is for those voting at St Vincent de Paul Residence, at 34 Homes for the Elderly and at the Gozo General Hospital (including Downtown Hotel) and Mater Dei (including Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Hospital), Karin Grech and Mount Carmel Hospitals.

The Electoral Commission notified that polling days for these institutions are as follows: 

St Vincent de Paul Residence and 34 Homes for the Elderly – Saturday, 19th March, 2022; 

Gozo General Hospital and Mater Dei, Karin Grech and Mount Carmel Hospitals – Thursday, 24th March, 2022. 

Voting hours are without interruption from 7.00 a.m. till 10.00 p.m. 

St Vincent de Paul Residence and 34 Homes for the Elderly 

Persons who are registered as voters in these institutions as well as those who are resident (but not registered voters thereat) up to Saturday 12th March, 2022 shall be able to cast their votes thereat on 19th March, 2022; 

Family members or other persons who are in possession of voting documents of persons currently residing at St Vincent de Paul or in the listed Homes should hand them over to the voters by not later than noon of Friday, 18th March, 2022;  

On the 19th March there will be no visiting hours at these institutions. 

Gozo General Hospital and Mater Dei, Karin Grech and Mount Carmel Hospitals: 

Voters who are registered as in-patients recovering in these hospitals as at 6.00 p.m. of Monday 21st March, 2022, shall vote in the hospital in which they are recovering on Thursday 24th March, 2022, and not as indicated on their voting document/s.  It is very important that such voters are in possession of their voting document/s by 20th March, 2022.
