Maria Farrugia, the oldest person in Malta, today celebrated her 110th birthday.
Borg on 7 March 1912, Maria has lived through both world wars, remembering the first air raids on Malta during the Second World War, the Spanish flu pandemic, and now also the Covid-19 pandemic.
Her story was featured by popular Facebook page The People of Malta on the occasion of her birthday.
Maria was born in Mosta, grew up in Msida, and then moved to Hamrun during the Second World War. She was widowed in 1962 and had three children, two of whom have passed away.
Her words on the occasion? "Life is in God's hands. There are no secrets."
