159 new cases of Covid-19 were reported by health authorities on Tuesday, a significant spike in the number of cases which have been found when compared with previous weeks.

An 82-year-old man has also died while Covid-19 positive, taking Malta’s death count up to 610.

69 people have recovered from the virus, taking the number of active cases up to 950.

34 patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, with three of those in intensive care.

1,246,808 doses of the vaccine have been administered thus far, with 345,107 of those being booster doses.

Malta has had 72,063 cases of the virus. 70,092 of those have recovered, while 610 have died.
